it's not that we don't care, it's just that we know the fight ain't fair...

oh man,is this going to be a long post!

i'm slightly giddy right now, i just cannot believe what a stellar year 2007 is shaping up to be!!! First Xtina announces tourdates, now Justin Timberlake (with P!NK of all people!)... Brit-brit? hello! do it!!! :)

In related news, Ashlie and I are already planning our VAbeach trip '07, hopefully to coincide with the DMB VABeach stop, whenever that is announced. Also - a long talk with Steph from Seattle last night got me even more pepped up for my DMB travels next summer! I am SOOOOO excited about going to shows with people that don't suck!! DMB tour '06 was very nearly ruined by one bad element, but that is done and done. [ahem, officially done after several angry phone calls with my bank this week... altho the Wrath of Wisconsin made one final attempt to dig the knife in my back, i'm choosing to look on the sunny side of life... the debt is now paid, for good, and she will NEVER reap the benefits of my membership again....]

Whew - slight rage there... haha, moving on! so, yes, 2007 is going to rule. i remember a long time ago my uncle made a comment about how he preferred even numbered years to odd numbered years, for no real reason... well i think i can definitely say i prefer odd numbered years! 2003 ruled, 2004 mostly sucked, 2005 ruled, 2006 is definitely sucking.. 2007 is going to R*O*C*K. :-)

i am determined to ring in 2007 some place exciting, just to get the year off to a good start. i think some of my philly crew is going to amsterdam, and i'm anxious to tag along.. altho i'd rather save my $$ and vacation days for a REAL european vacation later in the year of rock, aka 2007. so, i'm officially welcoming suggestions for my new years eve celebration... places that are not exciting include:
  • the state theatre
  • some lame bar
  • anywhere in virginia, dc, or maryland
last night i had my first truly enjoyable class at GMU. the professor i have this semester is just strange, and the class is not what i had anticipated. but, last night we had to give presentations, and everyone knows i love a spotlight, so i had a good time. :) Speaking in front of a group of people almost makes me miss teaching... almost, but not quite.

on my way out of the building i had an exciting little moment as i nearly knocked Richard Thomas to the ground. You might remember him as John Boy Walton on "The Waltons", but these days he's performing at the KC doing a revival of "12 Angry Men". Even though it was my fault for running into him, i still gave him my look of death, to which he seem rather amused. When i realized who he was, i was immediately apologetic and we chatted for a few minutes. Very nice man!!

Melissa thinks my nightmare Monday night is utterly hilarious, and a good sign that perhaps my subconsious is the smartest part of my brain. *sigh* she's not the biggest fan of my obsession. Oh well. At this point, even i'm not the biggest fan anymore.

i am, however, the biggest fan of my online YAHOO RADIO!!! god, my station RULES! and it makes the work day go by soooo smoothly!!! except when my station randomly decides to play busta rhymes or something equally annoying... but, no worries, a simple "don't play again" and see you later, busta!!!

i was supposed to be going to see ben kweller tonight with micah, but the Wrath of Wisconsin left my bank account in bad shape, so i'm electing to put some time in at the state tonight instead. hopefully i'll be okay for imogen next month, and ray the month after....

i must say, although i truly despise All Things Mayer... i am loving the new single. not loving it enough to go out and buy it, but i really appreciate the lyrics and the overall message. i completely agree.

"they say we stand for nothing and
there's no way we ever could
now we see everything that's going wrong
with the world and those who lead it
we just feel like we don't have the means
to rise above and beat it

so we keep waiting
waiting on the world to change
we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

it's hard to beat the system
when we're standing at a distance
so we keep waiting
waiting on the world to change
now if we had the power
to bring our neighbors home from war
they would have never missed a Christmas
no more ribbons on their door
and
when you trust your television
what you get is what you got
cause when they own the information, oh
they can bend it all they want"
