Get it through your head and walk away...

ugh, i don't even know where to start. three day weekends are bad, bad, bad. friday feels like 500 years ago....

but i'm back at the office and the good news is there's only four days til the next weekend! :)

friday after work micah and i headed towards the 930 club, stopping at our favorite bar for dinner and then tower for a little CD shopping. (poor poor tower, btw. i am more sad about this than i can say. what's to come of a world without good music stores?? sorry, but best*buy and wal*mart are NOT music retailers!) anyway, i got the new ray la*montagne, and it is JUST what the doctor ordered!!! i needed a really good, new cd to obsess over, and i found it. i've fallen out of love with ray, just a bit, because of everything that happened in london... but i cannot deny how amazing his music is. "love has gone" is SOOOO amazing. SOOO depressing, but so amazing... and "empty".. ugh, just go by the CD! seriously! if i had gotten this CD a month ago i might not have been able to listen to it without sobbing hysterically, but i'm okay now. :)

anyway, the jaime cullum show was AWESOME. everyone, please redirect your eyes to my post from last friday where i commented on the london-esque weather we were having.. cut to the 930 club that night when mr. cullum said the *exact same thing*. i fell in love with him a little bit. :) even tho he's only 5'2". he did an amazing version of 'seven nation army' using just himself and a loop electronic thingy. and he covered kelly clarkson's 'since you've been gone'.. very slow, piano version. i sang along louder than anyone. :)

after the show we had to rescue my car from the parking deck at my office, where it took 2 federal security guards to finally figure things out. unforch, i don't have a work badge yet. not a good thing if you leave late, apparently.

saturday i *barely* got to sleep in, :( had to be at the box by noon. booooo. (man that seriously feels like 100 years ago...) anyway, i worked for a bit and then went RFDs to meet melissa, verdak, michelle, and brian. i almost didn't want to go for fear of being the 5th wheel, but i'm so glad i did!! had an absolute blast! headed back to the state around midnight to hang out with the gang, good times! jon fish*man, the drummer from p*hish, was performing that night with the everyone orchestra, and he stayed to hang out with us for a bit. i started chatting with him, about drummers, and he was very complimentary of virginia's own carter be*auford. :) quote matt: "i look over and there's courtney, totally bombed, talking to jon f*cking fish*man!!! what the hell?" hehehe, matt was a little jealous! :)

speaking of jealousy, i got the birthday party pics back and, yeah, the proof is on the page!!! more on this to come.

anyway the party raged til 4am when i left, and apparently much much longer after that. i made a bad decision and work up at 11.30am, and immediately headed back to the state. worked a loooong day, went home, showered, went back to the state to hang out with lauren, of the lauren and marie dynamic duo... marie's working at the state now!! yay!!! love my bartenders!! :) good night... lil bit of drama, but oh well.

columbus day's a holiday for the day job, but not for the state as we had the legendary lindsey buck*ingham. i worked a chaotic day box before donning an apron and waiting tables for the show, which was awesome b/c i got to watch the entire thing, and all of soundcheck. i must say i was impressed. it was a bizarre crowd and not one of my better nights waiting tables, but oh well. good times. after the show ended the girls of the A-team expressed their displeasure at the new addition's work habits, or lack thereof. it's a ripple effect, and who knows what the outcome will be. ugh, if i have to issue anymore apologizes i might start flipping out. we all headed down to the local so the staff can get to know marie, and somehow i made it to bed and barely made it to work this morning!!!! employee of the month??? not a chance!

beautiful day here in DC... working at the state today, day job tomorrow, and then COLLAPSING for tomorrow night... with a new episode of LOST! yay! :)

"Yesterday is gone
Yesterday is dead
Get it through your head and walk away
Yesterday is gone
Ain't no use hanging on to her memory
It only causes you pain

For a while I sat there staring at her photograph
For a while I cried and tried not to make a scene
There was a time when we were young
I used to make her laugh
But life is long, my love has gone away from me"
