i am so f'in tired. i cannot keep up with the rock'n'roll lifestyle that accompanies working at the state. god save me, i love it.
great weekend... waited tables friday with the amazing kirsten and sarah, we are the dream team. i found out that i'm basically the boss of the state... not really but apparently my opinion is crucial. sarah: " they should just make you a manager, cause you're good at being bossy. i mean, you're bossy just as a friend, so you could definitely be bossy as your job." hahahahaha. friday was not a late drinking night, not compared to saturday and sunday. gooooood lord. what did i do before i owned falls church? big week, this week kicks off a kinda crazy time for me, with DMB coming up and everyone flying in. i have lots of cleaning to do!
i was supposed to go to chicago for DMB this weekend, but i just cannot afford it and, quite frankly, i'm not feeling the crowd. i'd rather give up my 3rd row seats than deal with more post-gorge drama. guess i never finished that story.... let's see, after sleeping most of the day friday, we had 2nd row... great setlist, the band was on fire, but due to fatigue, it took me a while to warm up... mr. matthews kept frowning at my lack of enthusiasm during the first half, but after our run-in in denver, i think he's used to me acting like a bitch, hahaha.
saturday morning we got up @ the crack of dawn to fetch the darling *cough* kelly from the airport, a mere three hours away. anyone who knows the denver debacle of last september won't fault me for noting the irony of the six hour commute gladly done, compared to a 40 minute favor done under EXTREME protest.... but, i guess we all have our priorities!!!!!! ahem.
when we (three) finally returned to the camp site, we had just enough time to shower and get ready for the tail-gating. it was decided some weeks ago (for me) that we were sitting lawn for the second night, so we could all be together and enjoy the sites of the lawn at the gorge... nevermind that we had perfectly good seats up close, and nevermind that we didn't bother to go in early to stack out a good spot on the lawn, it was all about "togetherness"... well, after about 2 minutes of "togetherness" on the lawn, my half-dozen or so vodka cranberries convinced me i'd enjoyed enough of the lawn so helen and i made a quick exit and forced our way up to the front (i ended up around row 10). had a great show, met some great people!!! :) good times!! not so good times back at the lawn party, where i was offically declared a "seat snob"... not to my face, mind you, but these things have a way of catching up with you.
so, for night three, i didn't even bother trying to play the game, i abandoned our 5th row seats for an empty spot next to 2 hotties in the 3rd row (see my my*space page), and now i have a future husband in idaho!! rock!!! i figured my bad reputation as a "snob" was already solidified... why let them down???
all this independence led to a chilly reception on the ride home, but i guess i forgot to give a shit. helen gave me a full run-down of why everyone hates me and those like me because of the "myth of senior status" and a supposed alliance of "Those Of Us Who Get Good Seats".... whatever! i say it would be a power symbol if it weren't treated as such by all of the FAKE friends who come out of the woodwork during concert season. luckily i ran into my fellow senior status member/old school fan vachelle at the state this weekend... she laughed off the theory of the alliance as well. stupidity!
anyway, so yeah that's why i'm not running out the door to get to chicago... i don't need it!! i'll smile and play nice during c'ville (luckily steph will be here!! yay!!), but next year's tour will be a whole new ball game.
