i love it when someone comments on your blog asking where you are, when THEY'RE the ones in a constant disappearing act... (YUSEF).... it's like, verizon... minute to minute... and isn't it our two year anniversary???? you, me, cmw, starsailor... ringing any bells?
some of the dmb summer tourdates have been linked and it appears i'll be spending my 26th birthday weekend in wisconsin with the nancies crew... (alpine = aug. 12 & 13) coincidently, it also appears i'll be missing my cousin jonathan's wedding in san fran... but, to quote stacey, "weddings are overrated. san francisco is overrated. alpine, however, is not overrated." hahahahaha, so true!!! after missing alpine '05 there's no way in hell i'm missing alpine '06. i wonder if it would kill the band to play a show on my *actual* birthday for once! granted, i had indianapolis in 2002... (or was it 2001?)... but that was many moons ago...
anyway, regardless, this is going to be out of control!!! :) and then seattle over labor day for my LONGGGGG overdue debut at the gorge. (assuming, of course, there's no red rocks this year....) hmmmm....
went to dinner last night with ashley, for our bi-monthly catch-up/gossip session. love it! we analyzed the importance of communication and honesty in relationships, and pondered the age-old question about whether 'no strings attached' was truly a better album than 'millennium' ... (i just feel like telling him, 'in the immortal words of the backstreet boys, quit playing games with my heart, before you tear it apart...' hehehe) she gave me a hot tip about a great new show called 'love monkey'... and i tuned in tonight only to see a fabulous guest appearance by mr. ben folds!!! so great!!!! and there was a big, fat, reference to one of the most fantastic songs of all time, 'we built this city', so i'm lovin' love monkey. hehehe.
i haven't been to a real concert (read:outside the state theatre) all month and i'm DYING.... only problem being that there's honestly nothing coming up i want to see. (which is prolly a good thing, since i'm BROKE...) i cleaned out my car and found my missing liz phair cd, so now i'm craving some phair.... or david gray.... or AAR. ... speaking of which, i realize that the all-american rejects are just another example of the simpleplan/falloutboy/armourforsleep pop-punk over-saturation in a post-"enema of the state world", but i cannot help but love them... largely because of their first album.... but their second one's pretty catchy as well. pure pop fun. (i think i've said that before, and i'm sticking to it.) and i love the fact that they have a song called "11:11 pm".... OBVIOUSLY they were trying to distinguish it from rufus' "11:11".... hehehe.
helen wrote a FABULOUS paragraph about living in london and managed to capture a bit of what i'm feeling, even though i don't live there anymore. (GOD i sound like a broken record these days!!! london london london... wonder if it will ever fade?) anywho, helens words:
Been thinking a lot lately how my life has totally transformed over the last 16 months or so but also how the common denominator of much of it is this amazing city I live in. Different parts of town stand for different people and different things. It never ceases to amaze me how things change and time moves on and people step in and out of your life, regardless of anything else and whether you want them to or not. Yet there is a memory pretty much everywhere in London I go - bits of my life engrained everywhere - from bars and restaurants, to the streets and pavements where I've walked.
i love it. miss helen, gitta, michael, brian, p&r, nicola, sharelle, martine, shiv... so much!

"Somehow I knew that I would be this way,
Somehow I knew that I would slowly fade.
Now i'm gone, just try and stop me now.
And will you need me now,
you'll find a way somehow
You want it too, I want it too."
