this certainly was the weekend of rock.
wednesday night i watched lost (so good!) in the most unlikely of places, and it turned out to be a perfect launching pad for my 13 week transformation of the mind, body, and soul. i literally shut the door on bad memories and am determined to move on.
thursday i had to work my first performance at the KC for the day job... it was actually rather fun... and early! i was out by 9pm, which allowed me the perfect amount of time to high-tail it to gmu to watch the all-americanrejects with fabulous wendy of harrisonburg. the fact that the tickets were free made me so happy i was able to ignore all the screaming 14 year olds...what can i say? i love AAR. they're so fun and happy. after the show wendy and i hit the always rockin' old town fairfax bar scene (*yawn*) and headed home to do some my*space ridiculing and you*tube viewing.
friday i reunited with the always hysterical mr. y over baja fresh on a perfectly glorious november day. washington, dc does a impressive job with autumn, even my cold cold heart can admit that. Y gave me a copy of the new damien album, with the warning that, it's no "O"... i listened to it all afternoon in my office, and then later in the box, and i must agree that it is, without doubt, no "O".. it's glorious and wonderful but lacks the x-factor that made "O" so addictive. this album is more cut and dry, with several stand-out tracks and several throw-aways. "rootless tree" is without question my favorite track, althougth the studio version lacks the punch that the live version is capable of. Y proved to be a true mind-reader, as he left the comment on my last post at the exact time i was listening to "rootless tree" on repeat in the box. god, such a powerful song. i am so completely excited for the december show.
friday night proved to be one of some good, old-fashioned drama at the state, and it was perhaps the first time in my life i TRULY thought i might punch someone in the face. LOL. ugh, what a ***worthless*** piece of shyt.. seriously... luckily, the boys of the state definitely had my back, and it never came to blows. LOL. but the gloves are offically OFF!!! no more mr. nice guy!
saturday was another heart-breakingly beautiful day and i was back in the box during the daytime, and then went home to shower and get pretty for the traveler de bleus show, hehehe. it was a sold-out crowd, with lots of friends of the state-family in attendance. got there just after the band took the stage, and after some meandering i found the perfect stop to sit behind the upper bar, with a great view of the stage and uninhibited interaction with my two favorite bartenders! ;) lots of jealous looks from the poor schmucks fighting the crowds. i felt so cheesy, but "runaround" was definitely the highlight of the night for me. after the show, we had roxanne's birthday celebration, and we were all jealous as the band joined in to sing to her! staff and band ended up hanging out til the wee hours of the night, which is a such a nice, but rare, treat at the theatre, hanging out with cool bands. :) several rounds of shots added up to lots of hugging and a little more than that..... ahhhhh. the state theatre.
sunday i forced myself to crawl out of bed and head over to the KC for some more performance work... luckily it went by quickly and even more luckily i didn't have to work the big event on the Mall. headed back home for some R&R before heading back to the state to catch the Tim R eynolds show. :) :) :) i had some high hopes of going early to watch soundcheck but it turns out he didn't do much of one, so i stayed home and rested. got to the state just before the opener finished, and i was shocked at the low attendence. i blame myself for not forcing TPTB to promote the show more. oh well. it was a rockin, intimate evening, and i actually watched most of the show from on stage. one of the boys made sure i got to meet him afterwards, and it was really cool, i must say. :) i was a giddy little school girl! to think that a few short weeks ago he was selling out arenas with mr. matthews.

"Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it
There's nothing in you
And did you hate me, hate me, hate me
Hate me so good
That you can let me out, let me out, let me out
Of this hell when you're around..."
