if i should bother dating unfamous men...

WHAT THE HELL??????

stupid abc7!!!!!!! showing "billy graham hour of faith" instead of the LOST rerun that supposed to be playing tonight!!!!! as if billy graham isn't offensive enough by just *existing* in the world at all, now he's messing up the two hour LOST party i was supposed to have tonight. jesus. now it's only a one hour LOST party... ugh!

i think that project runway is the 2nd greatest show on tv right now, behind LOST. and the fact that the new episodes are on wednesday nights at 10, right after LOST ends, is the greatest scheduling decision of all time. clearly the powers that be at ABC and bravo are in cahoots and i love it! santino's so annoying. nick v rules!

anyway, GREAT couple of days in the 'burg. got measured for my MOH dress for ashlie's wedding... "it's the IN-DI-GO dress!! yay!!!" i must admit, i believe bridal stores are perhaps the MOST scary places in the world. all these bright-eyed girls walking around with stars in their eyes... and the endlessly perky store employees all too ready to sell them over-priced, typically false representations of antiquated symbols of pre-nuptual purity, ie veils & white gowns. i ran out as quickly as i could.

met the VB-gals for lunch on tuesday... toni, wendy, and daphane. i hadn't seen toni since liz in october, and hadn't seen daphane since before london, so there was a lot of gossiping to do. talking about daphane & ashlie's upcoming wedding plans, toni made the single most effective conversational song mention i've ever heard ...(with 'polyester bride' by ms. phair).... i was so impressed i literally forgot what i was even talking about. hehehe. only toni!!! so great.

toni asked what new music i've gotten into lately and i actually got a little depressed b/c the only new CD i've gotten recently is the paddy casey import, which is far from new. but, tomorrow i'm going to get the brokeback soundtrack (featuring 2 rufus tracks), and the new destiny's child greatest hits compliation. yeah, that's right, i said destiny's child. why? you ask? well, first of all, i love the new beyonce single that's on it... and secondly, well ... i think a small part of my soul died this summer when they announced their retirement. ... i'm mean, i can't say for sure, but the sun just doesn't seem to shine as brightly without the promise of new and exciting DC singles for years to come.
annnnnddd... i realized today that jan. i24th is the day that both the new starsailor CD and the new richard ashcroft CDs come out, so i've got that to look forward to as well.... even if some people lost their passion for the starsailor boys after the astoria show in may... (ahem, helen!)

had a great night out with my #1 cousin and favorite bride-to-be ashlie on monday.... drank most of the alcohol in staunton... and i'd be a bad blogger not to mention that her friend turned out to be cuter than i remembered and definitely entertaining. ;) hmmmm...

on the ride home i listened to some old classics.... but kept coming back to the new david gray. it's funny, but for the last two years i didn't think he'd be able to top A New Day at Midnight but he definitely has with this one... what i love the most about david gray is the fact that every album has one solid radio-friendly hit... "babylon", "caroline", "the one i love".... and that one song will pull you in, but the rest of the album, decidedly NOT radio-friendly, is what keeps you interested... and it's a slow-pull as well... i've never instantly loved any david gray album, but there's always this moment, usually about the 4th time i listen to the CD, that i'll be struck by one line or one note that i never noticed before.... and it will dawn on me that david gray has done it again... so subtle, but such genius.

I keep on pushing farther away...
But he keeps telling me, baby...
he says baby yeah...

do you wanna be a polyester bride?

Do you really wanna flap your wings and fly away from here?"
