it's been entirely too long since i've written a quality post. finally have a day off with no prior obligations so i guess it's time i do it.
where to start? the last time i wrote was just after the amazing david gray concert. i still can't believe how legendary 2005 is turning out to be in world of concerts... i've literally seen everyone i love (save mr. yorn) at least once, if not twice or eight times....
so, just eight short days after seeing mr. gray i went to the 9.30 to see Liz Phair with shannon, toni & yusef. yusef and i revived showstoppers and took it to an entirely new level.... hehe, i doubt shannon & toni will ever be the same... ;-) great show as always... she didn't play my favorite track off the new album ('somebody's miracle') but that's okay... maybe next time.
after ms. phair it was only a matter of time and patience til the week of rock kicked off my november.
sunday october 30th - 9.30 club... HANSON! hehehe. ashley and i were FINALLY reunitied after nearly seven months and rocked it out with our favorite boys from 1997. great show as always... and i've now seen hanson perform in two different countries in just six months. i think they call that being a superfan, hehehe.
monday october 31st - 9.30 club... RUFUS! :) after a minor-heart attack when tickets sold out the week before, my most favorite nyc hottie came through with the last-minute save for me and skanky leah. got to see micah for the first time in nearly a YEAR! (although we talk so much it hardly seems like we're ever apart...) great show, shocking ending... (me: "ummm, micah, as a quasi-christian woman should i be offended by that?" micah: "uh, shut up you're not offended!" hahahaha) afterwards i was forced to hang out at the club til the wee hours of the night.... although i definitely wasn't complaining!!! ;)
tuesday november 1st - worldcafe live, philly... JAMES BLUNT! acoustic show... totally sold out but i managed to charm my way in, of course... (read: bargain the use of my car) met up with valerie after the show, (for the first time in over a year as well!) stayed up til 4am gossiping about everything, at which time i decided firmly that an nyc trip the next day was just not in the cards... until of course about 4pm the next day, when it seemed all the nyc hotties were going to cry if i didn't make the trip, hehehe.
wednesday november 2nd - beacon theatre, nyc... RUFUS! deja vu, no ticket, small panic over the logistics, but it allllll worked out in the end, of course. :) got to see another amazing show and run out of a celebrity-ridden afterparty... then, perhaps best of all, was shown the bright lights of brooklyn by one very good-looking escort. love it.
then, after a day of lounging about i headed back to philly, downed some cranberry & vodka before passing out. came back to DC the next day and have been in a j.gilberts haze ever since. i truly hate the restaurant and all the petty drama that comes with it. looking into a new job before the holidays get all crazy-like.
got ben folds in baltimore this friday and then DMB's winter tour kickoff just 2 short weeks after that! looks like i'm going to minneapolis, philly, penn state, and perhaps boston as well. :) that will be eight total dmb shows this year ... and for a girl who spent six months out of the country i'd say that's not too shabby!
as for what's really going on with me, who can say. i miss london soooooo much. it was great to reconnect with mr. nyc, brought a lot of london memories back to me. if i can't get my visa sorted out for another year in london, i might have to make the big move to philly. who knows.
