hanson

put my copy of 'this time around' in this morning. so good. they were, truly, very good in concert. their fans are completely insane and perhaps only 2nd in rabid loyalty to tori fans, but can you blame them? hanson was the orginal boy band and now they're apparently the only ones still together. that is, hanson emmerged just before the backstreet boys, *nsync, lfo, lmnt, o*town and countless other boybands of the late 90's that faded away before most of their fans turned 21. hanson, however, has struggled to survive and hold on to their fans, and they've been quite successful from the looks of the crowd thursday night. it's as if any girl that ever liked a boyband suddenly realized all they have left is hanson. (and it's very important for girls to have an entire 'band' to worship, because then each girl gets one member and no one has to argue)

anyway, i found this editoral review on amazon about the 'this time around' album and i found it very appropriate:

"It's tempting to go after Hanson with a full-on snark attack and deconstruct the new haircuts, snicker at the slightly rougher sound, and hoot at such impossibly tortured lyrics as "On the ground crying out, 'Somebody see me please.'" Trouble is, it's hard to trash them when the smile on your face has no trace of malice. That's the sort of smile these songs induce."
